Ah, the perfect solution to your room acoustics problem! Now you are all set.

Having to promise to buy them without auditioning or cherry picking, and having to go pick them up, I would pay no more than...
I don't know.

I'd have to see them and audition before answering this question.

Just kidding.

What was the last offer? Okay, then. I'll say one-fifty, Bob.

Hmmm....500 lps, sight unseen, mostly rock and classical. Could really go either way. That's a tough one- I'd pay $250, given how much COULD be garbage. You could also get lucky and get a real trove!

But who knows what heat, or moisture, or bad needles, or general lack of cleaning, or just bad taste could affect the final verdict. That being said- I hope for your sake it's going to be an early Christmas for you and the set it great!

Well, no early Christmas, but maybe like the fourth day of Chanukah.

There were about 600 LP's, primarily from the midsixties to late 70's...

...and about 25 'rock' records.

Gino Vanelli, Helen Reddy kind of 'rock.'

I was starting to get bummed when I got them home and started going throuhg the boxes, then I hit the Dean Martin section, and the Nancy Wilson part, and some classic cover art - like Herb Alpert's "Whipped Cream" album; and things picked up.

Then! Then! Classical music box, with lots of Angel, Archiv, DG discs. Maybe 75 classical LP's that I would actually want to listen to.

It also had a comedy section, even a disc of Spiro Agnew speeches (I hope ot has the 'nattering nabobs of negativity' speech,) and an LP of JFK's greatest speeches.

All in all maybe 120-150 keepers after the first time through.

Terrible mildew in some places, some records appear to be 'well loved.'

The best news is that it looked like they didn't play their classical LP's very often. It even had a sealed DG Berlioz Symphonie Fantastique that I already have, but this one will live at the new place.

The prearranged price was 30 bucks, so for what I consider to be 'keepers,' about 20 cents per.

The kicker is now I gotta get another cleaning machine or learn the sink method!

I've seen such things for about 90 cents a record on the low end, but it totally depends on what records they are.

It is almost as if I'd pay a "fun premium" of going through the records and making discoveries - and not just the precise value of the records.

I was thinking about that. Maybe this is the perfect job for the GEM Dandy.

Great price, by the way. I hope you find many more gems while you continue to sort through it all.

30 bucks? That's crazy cheap! If there were even 10 you really liked it'd be a bargain. Glad it was so many more- and sounds like some fun too.

Started to get a better feel for the LP's. Here's an intriguing one:

Ordered some cleaning juice from Music Direct, so can't tell ya how it sounds yet.

Oh baby! There is nothing like pure LP kitch--- that stuff is worth it for the visuals alone. Nice find. Maybe I need to skim Craig's List more often just to check for this kind of deal.
