Hi
Could you describe your system please, im open but skeptical on things like fuses making any difference at all.
Alan
It's common to discover new details in music after a few hearings. The next thing you should try is going back to your original fuses and wires, to see if you still hear the clicks and bumps. I bet you'll find those details were audible before too, but you never noticed them until you listened more carefully. Please try that and report back.

JIMV,
I have not tried different fuses in amps.
I have tried different ones in-line for speaker fuses, and those make a audible difference - sometimes better, sometimes worse. The best is a wire instead of a fuse, but you take your chances then. The hypothesis advanced that I read about is the heating/cooling of the fuse, affecting the sound.
If I were to guess, I'd look at how much current the amp is drawing on the AC side and if the fuse is modulating the current through self heating/cooling cycles. How that affects the secondary side of the Xformer and its associated filters despite the large filter caps there would be the next place to look at. The steadyness of DC supplied and what frequency spectrum remains on what is supposed to be "pure" DC side of the power supply would be what I look for. Perhaps someone here in the forum is a power supply expert.
The system is basic and mostly old. An Adcom 750 CD player, Energy C2 speakers, Cardis twinlink speaker cables, Kimber PBJ interconnect, a Monster cable 2500 power filter and a PrimaLuna Dialog 2 amp. The only other tweaks I have is a wall wart to clean up the power (no effect I can hear) and good contact cleaner.
I know that track and there simply was no such an effect. In addition, I found another change, same CD same gear. There is an instrument like a triange, very faint, that also was not there or so faint I never noted it that is now clear and apparent.
I was surprised as all I expected was a minor, tiny improvement and this seems to be more.
Actually, I am sold on a minor change due to the fuse. What I am interestd in knowing is will a better (more expensive) power cable for the CD change the sound. I believe it has with my amp.
