It should be PERFECT since it took so long to make. check to see how the warp factor is. How many different iterations of Led Zeppelin can be produced? I have a few different versions of their box sets, it's beyond redundant...man they ain't aged well at all They where the #1 cover band in their time, since all their music was from others.

You seriously crack me up DUP. Can you just think it through and ask why someone posted something like this? Maybe because he was excited and wanted to share it. The friendly response is "Hey, good for you Lamont. Enjoy and let us know how it sounds!"

Plus, you and your warped obsession, hahahha. I buy a couple records a week and have gotten, maybe, 1 warpage issue in 3 years. It's just not a wide spread problem but 'cause you got one of the bad ones it's all you can talk about.

DUP, my friend, I don't know where you get support for your assertion that Zepp was a cover band...

I direct you to the track listing for Mothership, including the By-lines: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mothership_(album).

Oh, and FYI, since you're obviously not familiar with the band, when it says "Page," "Plant," and/or "Bonham" it means Led Zeppelin wrote it.

You may apologize after reading - it isn't a sign of weakness.

So, what. So did every other band during that period. They were influenced by the blues. It it wasn't for these bands you would have never heard of the blues.

Hey Lamont, good BUY...not a catch....hope ya got a defect free one. Is that better? Now you did wash it before you play it right, didn't an LP guru once say to wash even new LP's to get the reminants of mold release and other things off the record? that's bizzare. Besides the CD set takes up a lot less space on the shelf.

Who do they credit the songs to now? Since it's a new release, Rolling Stones covered Blues quite well.

Malicious? Do you understand what wurds mean, is English a second language, cus' sumtimes that happens...what is "malicious" It's educational, history, correcting some mis guided facts. You don't consider them a terrific cover band? The Beatles wrote songs on their own. Except for the early ones that they creditied to as their inspiration. Hey Lamont, is the LP not warped? good.

For starters, no blues man would include a little ditty about Gollum stealing his girl away in the land of Mordor, hahaha, but that's a whole other story.

I'd say posting a link to "Why Zep sucks" is sort of malicious, or at the least mean-spirited when the thread is about a guy being excited his boxed set is on the way. The biggest irony of all is that Lamont seemingly wasted copious amounts of time and words defending what a great asset you are to the forum. I think the point is DUP- you don't HAVE to always prove you point by telling the other guy how WRONG he is, and by implication that he's an idiot for having a different opinion.

Everyone knows Led Zep were heavily influenced by, even borrowed from, all the classic blues guys. Big news dude! Guess what- that's art and music for ya! You think anyone complained that every classical composer first studied Bach, then Mozart and then Beethoven? Yes- they even borrowed whole themes from each other, but they made it their own. Zep owe it all to the blues, sure, but they are not the blues nor just copiers. They are hard rock and made it their own in a big way.

Being influenced by other bands/genres and other music is not the same as being a cover band. And I take it that you're being ironic by challenging someone else's understanding of "teh English language." In particular, because you don't understand the difference between a "cover" band, and musicians who are influenced by music (what a concept).

I realize that it is fashionable to challenge the greatness of any great band in history with irrational rhetoric and hyperbole, but I usually see this on MySpace pages, rather than in more sophisticated forums.

So how does it sound Lamont? I realize I don't belong on this forum, and I am malicious, and don't know a cover band from "borrowing" somethings....look at who got credits for teh songs, now, hey Lamont, what does it say on that album..Whole Lotta Love is You need Love, word for word, checkout the original, more than borrowing a few rifts.....wonder why Atlantic records paid up...hmmmmm. Borrowing and taking thin line, but i think when it involved big money, it got resolved.

DUP, I'm glad you like to have fun, and enjoy pushing things until you turn into a caricature. I know it sounds snarky, but I'm fully intending it to be a compliment. Things wouldn't be the same without you (and by that, I mean they would be worse).

Lamont, I am jealous. Where do I get mine? I'll bet it sounds terrific. Of course, I am one of those fools who enjoys the "sonic mess" virus that inhabits all live events. Ooops. Live events can't be upsampled, so I guess they are virus-immune.

Sigh. What's a music-lover to do?

I guess I'll just take the vinyl and be happy. Repeat. Where do I get mine? I love LZ. Fizzes my colon (we old guys need that...).

Somebody sued 'em? Well, I guess that means they must've played it better, eh?

Jealousy used to get played out at dawn on dew-sparkled fields. Now, they go to muggy, sweaty courtrooms.

I am embarrassed to say I have a couple of LZ CD's. Now, where do I get the real thing?

Happy tunes.

Oh, I don't mind DUPs rants. He has his a defense mechanisms. But he has worked hard on this thread. DUPs a lone wolf. I'm sure the albums are going to be fine. Going to see Steve Winwood perform in Selma TX this week so I won't be able to tackle listening to these LPs until later. But this should send DUP over the edge. We got Grand Funk's Thirty Years of Funk Capital 72434-99523-2-4 in the mail today. CDs this time. I'm going to listen to some of that tomorrow.

DUP a lot of these artists from that era had the blessings of the original blues players. They loved the fact that young people were taking their music to a higher level. You want to be like Pvt. Chris Taylor but you're not cool enough. Gimme Shelter.

Also, Muddy Waters recorded a lot of his hits that were written by Willie Dixon. As for "You Need Love". He got his day in court. I would be careful zeroing in on just Led Zeppelin.

Well, I guess what this thread needs is a dozen or so more posts from DUP, so...

Zepplin is about as original as Matt Oreo. Some white suburban kid decides to rip off the blues and DUP grows wood for him. Some British guys who beat Oreo to the punch, however, suck.

I think this may be a case of someone's Haloperidol interacting poorly with Delta 9-tetrahydrocannabinol when he was a teenager.

And, let's see...Mothership sounds great on my 4 inch full range single driver speakers driven by 3 watt tube amps.

Actually 10% non white. And he wrote lotsa his own stuff BMI has the records. Buddha, a 4" "full range" is impossible! BLOSE claims just such thing, and I have 2 such devices, 30Hz in 100 Hz out Jan and Buddha need to get together and see if the larger 5" gives better bass than the small 4". Full range and 4", ain't gonna happen. I guess maybe it is true, maybe i was wrong, a trained listener, would certainly understand what they hear. Certainly knowing that 4"-5" drivers don't reproduce the entire spectrum of the audible range, maybe both have hearing aids, that cutout anyway. Why would someone who uses single tiny drivers, be interested in high end sound, it's like self defeating 3 Watts, oh yeah, that's dynamic, lifelike

Lamont, Have fun at the Winwood concert. Got to see him with Traffic on the Shootout At The Fantasy Factory tour with Rebop Kwaau Baah (percussion) in '73 or thereabouts. One of the all time epic great gigs I have seen.

LZ's How The West Was Won is out on vinyl now, I believe. The DVD-Audio brought me right back to the concerts at the Long Beach Arena. Sweet.

Talked the wife out of getting one of those awful Sony/Panasonic under the kitchen cabinet radios a few years back. Got a Tivoli Mod. 1 in white on the counter and it's great for those morning prep/cooking/cleaning chores.

Ordered Mothership in vinyl today. Can't wait.

BTW, Steve Winwood is great. He opened for Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. All Steve needed was a band onstage. He actually made Tom Petty look like an over aged rocker still trying to dance on stage like Stevie Nicks. John Barleycorn Must Die.

Okay, I've been enjoying these LPs. They suit the range of the 70s Sansui loudspeakers and HK amp most excellent. Very nice sound. A+

Also, the packaging is impeccable and in tune with what the likes of Jimmy Page would want to provide for the fans of Led Zeppelin. Stereophile should do a write up on this LP set.
