Thanks for the recommendation, jazzfan. I'm listening now, and I like it. I gotta say, though, I can't remember a better time for the popular/rock music scene. There is SO MUCH great music, it's pretty much driving me crazy. (In a good way.) There are so many bright spots, it's blinding.

With new albums from Leila, Nick Cave, Portishead, Xiu Xiu, Son Ambulance, Destroyer, Black Keys, Beck, Bon Iver, Sonic Youth, Fleet Foxes, My Brightest Diamond, Bodies of Water, Cat Power, Devotchka, Man Man, shit this could go on and on, 2008 has been a WONDERFUL year for music.

Leila, Xiu Xiu, Son Ambulance, Destroyer, My Brightest Diamond, Bodies of Water, Devotchka and Man Man: I'm not familiar with any of these artists but that's why my user name is "jazzfan" and not something like "rocker"

Black Keys - I've hear and I like some of their music. I also enjoy "The Hold Steady"

Beck - I've always enjoyed Beck and like his new CD.

Bon Iver - can you say boring, he's reminds me of "Iron and Wine" only even more boring, if that's possible since by now we're in the area of almost dead.

Sonic Youth - one of all time favorite bands. They have a new CD out? man, I'm falling behind.

Fleet Foxes - another band which is similar to "Shearwater". And doesn't the lead singer sound a lot like Jim James, the lead singer for "My Morning Jacket"?

Cat Power - another artist whom I really enjoy although I find that her latest release, "Jukebox" is not quite up to the level of some of her earlier releases, like "The Greatest".

And we mustn't forget Shelby Lynne and her fantastic "Just A Little Lovin'", which, by the way, is an excellent example of how to be sparse without becoming boring.
