Wonderful. Thanks for sharing this, Elk.
Does she write her poetry with a crazy sense of urgency?
Sorry, obscure lyric about a girl who writes poetry.
She sounds like one very cool person.
Imagine how good her ears must be at that age, too.
Tell her the industry needs her feedback!
Thanks for posting that.
I vote her as prom queen.
Very neat. Thanks for sharing.
It turns out that I have a nephew that collects vinyl also. He is 17. We have talked about music a lot, but never about equipment.
I asked him about the sound of vinyl. He essentially stated that everyone knows it sounds better. He has quite a few friends into vinyl.
OK this is getting weird.
A little more exploring and it turns out that his biggest interest is old Pink Floyd, various prog-rock groups, etc.
(The high school senior I met with yesterday adores teh Beatles.)
I wonder how much is that they like the sound of vinyl and home much is that they like the sound of less compression.
My guess is both.
The twenty-somethings my just get us better sound yet!
And here's another report on the vinyl revival.
Thanks, Stephen.
I am going to be sure to invite my nephew and his friends over to play their vinyl. This should be a hoot.
We all love to share our favorite music. I'll get to hear things I am sure I haven't and they will hear their LPs on a good system. Win/Win.
You totally placed the finger on the pulse, Elk. I know I linked this Time article elsewhere in this forum, but the article talks about how the resurgence of "retro-rock" of the 60s & 70s among young kids has led the youth into the warmer sound of vinyl. The two go hand in hand - the interest in the music of the past, and SQ. From the article:
"Bad sound on an iPod has had an impact on a lot of people going back to vinyl," says David MacRunnel, a 15-year-old high school sophomore from Creve Coeur, Mo., who owns more than 1,000 records.
