Just a random guess, not having been to any Stereophile shows... maybe a Redpoint TT?

It might have been but somehow I don't think so. I have the vaguest of recollections that it was imported - although that could be a figment of my overfertile imagination. Hopefully someone who was there like one of the 'phile staffers (hint hint!) will be able to nail it for me and put me out of my misery.

Just a stab in the dark but the Clearaudio Maximum solution series resemble the V.Y.G.E.R line, and they were exhibitors at that show. Here is a Pic scroll down of the one at the show.

Nope, I don't think so. If you put a gun to my head I would probably say the arm was an SME V but again that could be pure fabrication.

God bless you both for trying to help but ultimately I fear that the ability of this group to make informed and creative but speculative suggestions way exceeds my powers of recall to with certainty determine if any of them are correct.

There must be a bunch of folks out there who were there, the show seemed well attended enough. Hopefully someone with a better memory than me will be able to pinpoint it.

Most original show report records will have a listing of all of the display companies.

Find the 2002 attendees list, and among that will be your suspects.

Barring that, do an on-line search for the 2002 show.

Don't forget to do a parallel Google image search as well.

If the room was crowded, there will be photos out there.

Thanks for the pointers KBK.

I have pored over all the show reports I could find online and haven't found any mention of this room. None of the pictures show this deck and unfortunately the exhibitor roster only lists the companies who booked the rooms, not the equipment on display. I am pretty sure this was an importer's room but I have no idea which.

I have also studied pictures of hundreds of tts online and the only one I have found that looks anything like my mental picture is the Transrotor Fat Bob.

Plenty of folks reading this forum must have been there (I bumped into WP and J-10 myself). Doesn't anyone remember this room??

what floor was the TT on? Lower levels were and are the biggest rooms, or the smaller rooms on the upper floors. Was it a suite or a small room on the upper floors?

Believe it or not, this can help narrow it down.

If it was the bigger rooms downstairs, it might be something that Angie brought in, her outfit is associated with her store, 'American Sound'.

If it was a suite, they are highly coveted, and most distribution firms will keep them for multiple years. So a 2003-2004 show report/FSI data can also be a clue, as it will show who had what room.

KBK,

My memory is a bit vague but I put everything I can remember about the room in my original post:

...playing in a very small room near the back of the hotel on the right hand side (looking from the street). If memory serves it was on one of the upper floors. Not exactly prime real estate and therefore almost certainly not a big name.

No, my point is it could have been a Vyger or it could have been a FatBob; it looked something like those decks but that is where my memory runs out of steam. I was hoping to find someone who was there and took notes and knows which deck I am referring to.
