What are the absorption specs for this little guy?

Depends on how frequently you water it.

Intriguing indeed! That just may be somehting I could eek into the listening/living room, although the price would still be a interesting discussion with someone who already thinks the system sounds better than anything she's ever heard in the first place.

"Hey honey, I'm thinking of putting a plant over in that corner." "OK, what kind?" "Well, it's actually NOT a real plant, but it looks like one, except it costs $200, and it will do WONDERS for standing waves!" "Oh! Well then that settles it, let's get two!"

BTW Elk- I think the "policy" is that it's OK to respond to manufacturer announcements in the Rants n Raves section, just not directly in the Announcements section.

I also think this is correct.

I initially responded in the Announcements section and our OverLord Stephen (I type this with Great Respect for he who should only be named when absolutely necessary) moved my post to here.

We probably won't bother to measure these formally because they're not panel shaped and there's no official way to assess them for their intended placement. This is why I show ETF data with and without the traps in place. If you care to read more the limitations of about official measurements, here's my rant on that:

Alternative Test Methods for Acoustic Treatment Products

I say "rant" only half-kidding, and this article was actually printed in a real acoustician's magazine. I may be the first non-degreed author they ever had.

Getting back to the subject...

I showed the pic of this to my wife, and she said, "What, you make it look like a wicker basket with a plastic fern and call it 'keeping the spouse in mind?' He's got to be kidding."

Ethan, Katy says it looks like a plastic plant holder from Pier One and actually lowers her WAF rating.

She also wants to know if you'll be in charge of dusting 'the damn things!'

So, I asked her what she thought this type of product should look like, and she said, "Make it a taller than eye level column with color or cover options, and have an integral soft light in the top so it can pleasantly occupy its corner and can function as an indirect light source, if desired."

She will accept a set of four as her consulting fee once these go into production and bring you the wealth of kings.

Good idea. I like this concept also, especially the indirect light option.

Indirect light versus direct will change the sound of the room. LED or CFL? Here we go....a dark room sounds mor natural than one illuminated by ELECTRIC light.....original classical music was penned under candle light, or no light at all. Listening to or recording in anything other than the original envioment makes it artifical...ELK'S LAW. And make sure you have some Scurvy and dirty horse shit filled buckets, to give the old enviorment of early life in the castle.. , Anyone heard a DussenDorf lately?

You must be taking drugs in order to properly appreciate Clapton.

Clapton, he ain't done anything any good since Cream broke up......that was like 1969, he is hardly worthy of his over rated status. Lonnie Brooks, Buddy Guy, Lonnie Mack, much much better, Kenny Neal, all smoke Clapton, he is highly marketed....

Sorry DUP, you are confusing with the extreme subjectivist camp.

Also, just so you know, most classical music is now written on a computer. There are lots of good modern composers working right now - it's a great time for new music.

Actually a column that acts a soft light is a very good idea... Giving it a lighting function takes it out the whole "why do we need it" realm and into the room decor enhancement one. That just might be my ticket- I'll send a picture when I get done with my DIY version.

This one. There are many active contemporary composers premiering new works all the time, choral, chamber music, full orchestral, song cycles, operas . . . It is an amazing era.

Get your head out of the sand and look around.

LOL. Okay, forget the plastic fern and use a real plant.

Okay now?

If you could maybe add a few more dropdowns to your random reply protocol, it could liven things up consdierably.

Do you type those replies or is it all templates at this point?

You are missing a great deal of good music by being so narrow in your tastes.

Not narrow at all, I have stuff from The Monkees to Bach and Holtz PLANETS in SACD.......so I know what has energy and life and what is lifeless and a big ? mark. Hendrix to Frank Sinatra Lee Michaels, Roy Buchanana to SRV to Temptations Isley Bros, and everything in between Ray Charles to John Phillips Mama & The Papas..I is very versitile and have an expanded mind when it comes to music, Buffalo Springfield to Horowitz....heard it all, got it all, so I know what stinks and what is terrific....nothing done in teh last 10 years is worthy....Sonic youth, Sound Garden, all horrible, they all sing like they are getting the nails pulled out of themselves, and they have zero emotion in their presentation.....You saying Marvin Gaye ain't one of teh finast singers and musicans aever? Now that was singing with emotion.....Even Otis Redding, and Elvis doin gGospel, top of teh heap in greatest stuff ever. Nothing like them ever again....Etta James, a true VOICE and emotion......
