Hemi powered horns.....cool. But I thought all the one watt people said horns are so efficient they only needed a few watts to be so real. 30,000 into these horns!!! This sound level must cut metal.

Heh, I keep forgetting to post for you this link to a local friend's site. It's not 30 KW but it's a lot:

THAT'S BEAUTIFUL STUFF.......now that's what I'm talkin' bout'!!!! BEAUTIFUL, must sound great! REAL SLAM, and everything else to make it REAL......Watts, it's what good for making it REAL. 40W 3% THD tube amp, into a single driver, you got's to be kidding me. THIS is what hi fi is all about, and he is right LOUD and hi fi, can work and play and live together, I do it everyday. Beautiful there Ethan, hey Jan what do you think about that setup? too many crossovers? too many drivers, too much realism?

He also uses the same LOGIC that it's all about making it sound REAL. I guess I'm not alone in trying to get that to happen, and he also mentions he was tired of teh high end BS, he set out to make REAL happen, it takes drivers, watts and good electronics. Not hyped BS like $24,000 obsolete IC CD players....this guy has it right, Jan, take note, what it's all about....thanks Ethan, great stuff. Jan can we see your system since you can hear the differences in cables etc, must be something lets see what ya got. And you here MPINGONESS.....let's see.

Yes, that too.

Not bad at all. Not as accurate as my living room setup, and he has no bass traps, but it sounds better than most systems I hear. The main failing is he has 4.0 speakers - no center channel and no subwoofer. He doesn't need a sub, but he needs a center speaker badly. In case it's not obvious Mark made the speakers, and he says their resonance is tuned to 8 Hz.

It also plays VERY loud. I mean stupid loud. Mark can only give a demo of how loud it goes when his wife and toddler daughter are out of the house. I got that demo a few months ago and I'm still sorry.

Yes, DUP, "slam" is the right word.

Actually, next time I go over when his family is out, I'll bring a better demo track to have him play loudly. Last time he played a MIDI file he made of a pop tune, and it wasn't as good sounding as a well mastered "real" recording.

It must also have good bass at low volume with teh ability to move that much air. In a way, I find this prospect more appealing than the loud part. Good rich bass at low volume is tough to create. (Then again, this may be a room treatment issue.)

Ethan,

Do you think he would mind hosting a bunch of us going over there to hear his set up?

He has major timbre/imaging issues, imho, and the vertical pipe is exactly the best place to listen. But it is impressive.

Yeah, that's what I meant to say.
