My first high-end 'table was a Rega P2 and that thing was great! SO simple for setup and use- looks sweet, and is very reliable. You'll love it! Welcome to the world of analogue- it's a fun and exciting place to be.

Okay, Erik B, I blame you for this entirely, but I went down to Academy Records near Union Square in NYC & inadvertently purchased... 20 LPs. I went there to get some used CDs, but saw some killer deals. (Karajan/Schwartzkopf's Der Rosenkavalier by R. Strauss for $15?!? Yes, f*&^ing please.) Mind you I don't have the TT yet (although I have a pretty decent cartridge!) So I have these LPs that I can only touch, smell & admire at a distance. But I think I'm going to build up on my software so that I can plunge right into analog once I get my TT in a couple of months.

Karajan has never been all that much of a favorite. Too bombastic. Otto has been my favorite with all those Philips recordings. Just the right pacing for me. But for Strauss? yes. Herbie von is nearly required.

Don't forget to be reading some Ayn Rand or Nietzsche when you're listening to Herbie Von. Be careful of your ass squeaking when you cross the room to flip the LP.

Too funny, KBK. Karajan would have THRIVED in our century. He was a PR machine. Not much of a Karajan fan either, but as you said, there are some unbeatable Strauss performances. Some of his Sibelius, too, and Mahler. I love Klemperer.

Congratulations Erik! I remember when I got my first high end TT. It was a Rega Planar 2. Great table and the P-3 is even better!!! Have lots of fun with record shops and mods and tweaks!

Both You and Eric need to pick up an LP copy of Grace Jone's "NightClubbing"

That'll introduce you to Sly Dunbar and Robbie Shakespeare. Between them and Chris Blackwell...they MADE Island records. Sticky Thompson on the Drums as well. I'm not sure it gets much better than that. Well..there's lots more. But that's a goodie.

Grace is well..just Grace. To get a better perspective on her, Arnie complained during the filming of 'Conan The Destroyer', that Grace would not pull her shots properly,and was bruising him up. She loved hitting him --just a bit too much. She really got into the fighting and hurting bit. Just living up to her 6 foot Nubian background....
