I own the M12s and Yes they do have significant more bass and overall sound output than the M5s, however they still roll off around 60hz. The M16s are floor-standing and go a little deeper (45hz I think) but it'll cost you. Anyway the M12s are great, tight sounding monitors with a very balanced presentation. You can always add the Epos sub later for that serious "Thumpin'" but you should be pretty happy with what they can do on their own.

Thank you for a very honest answer. This alone makes me want to audition the m12.2. As anticipated, I think bigger mid bass driver does really puts the weight and additional bass on the m12.2 ha.
Actually I am not looking for a speaker to reach down to 45hz, I just want to feel and hear them when it matters. So I think auditioning the m12 really is a good move, anyway this is free
I am currently using a bookshelf speaker that has 60Hz ~ 40kHz frequency response and this does it for me. Although comparing the m5 which can also go down at 60Hz, it felt it lacks in the bass area even if the specs said so.
In anyway, I will visit the audio shop and home auditioned the m12. Again, thanks for the input

I was just curious on your post when you said that the m12 roll offs around 60hz. Since my post primary concern is the weight and bass of epos and the specs on m12 says its frequency range is 54 Hz - 20 kHz, is it right for me to assume you meant m12 rolls off at 54Hz?
Or is the better question should be does the low frequency of m12 at 54Hz differs much from m5 at 60Hz? Is this that audible?
If you truly want to add bass that you can feel to the mix, you may be better off buying the M12i & adding a sub (I'd suggest REL). The M12i will probably serve you well most of the time, but when you want to turn it up (party levels) the sub will come in handy.
Have you auditioned any of the Epos yet?

Beings you're seeking more/deeper bass the M12 is the better of the 2 speakers. If you want even deeper bass sound go with the M22 - it is an M12 turned into a 2.5 way speaker by adding a woofer. The M22 has a freq. range of 38 Hz to 20kHz and is has 6 Ohm impedance. The specs for the newer M12i and M22i are the same as that of the M12 and M22 - I, personally couldn't hear any difference between the M and the Mi.
I found all the Epos to be very clean, detailed and easy to listen to (i.e., no fatigue).
The suggestion of a sub is also a good idea if you want to go that low in the range.
When you get a chance to listen to the Epos let me know what you think.
