Instead of kicking yourself, we should be kicking the equipment manufacturers for not properly designing their power supplies and their input filters.
All digital equipment generate noise and what you should do is to prevent this noise from getting into the power supply of other components via the digital equipment's power cord. Many power conditioners have sections to isolate digital and analog equipment for this reason.
I use the JPS Digital AC power cord, and my Equi=tech does have an isolated digital section. As soon as I replugged the buffer power supply into the analog section, the problem disappeared.
I posted my experience to alert others who might be contaminating their digital power supply and degrading their sound. I can only imagine how many audiophiles just plug everything into one circuit.
