Actually, it does play a part, the fields, that is.

When I was into severe modification of 9" color Gunned 3500x2500 Graphics Grade CRT projectors...I found that the electromagnetic/electrostatic considerations (ie, planetary weather, re the old earth-solar system relationship) affected the alignment of the CRT projector, minutely, and repetitively, according to astrological considerations. I say astrological, but another might say astronomic. Whatever, we are talking about planetary relationships to/with fields and /or one-another, regardless.

As for noticing it and comparing it to something, ie, flopping about and trying to find the source of the issue, it took a while. As for the projector itself, maybe about 3 people on the planet had ever taken a CRT projector to that level of perfection, so it's not something I'd expect the average researcher to ever run into. Repeat the test conditions and then consider the ramifications, please do not outright ridicule from a position of ignorance. As for repeating the test conditions, first you'd have to be enough of an expert within the aspects of re-executing a CRT projector on a level which, literally, less than 5 people have achieved, and then put in the time toward monitoring the situation. (In reality, I'm being generous, I only truly know of two people who have gone this far. One was Chris Stevens, and I. I may have -in the end- gone notably further than he did, I was doing custom cables, sources, and power supplies. However, he did more circuit work. I did lots of parts changes, mechanical work, optical work, and external connectivity work. After speaking with him, We did share some work with one another. I told him, "you take the high road (custom CRT projectors),and I'll take the low road (modifying digital projectors) and we'll meet in the middle." I stopped working on CRT projectors, and went digital, as CRT was an eventual dead end.)

In such a CRT projector, we are talking about displaying a 1080P pixel grid, at about 9 feet wide, with the ability to easily discern the dot on a small 'i', with perfect clarity, and to see if the R-G-B overlap of the guns was -perfect or not. Noting the issues and times, gave me a pattern of alignment change that I was having some difficulty in finding the source of. I took a stab at an idea of the source, and the proposed source fit the changes in alignment. Ie, planetary field considerations and the changes in said field.

The PC even had a totally wacked out custom power supply, with film caps,and a modified motherboard, in similar fashion. Oscon caps, etc. Same for the video card. The RGB wiring was custom terminated for loading perfection, on each end, with air dielectric cables, and hard wired into each end. Individual cable run impedance matching, on either end, was also done. I slowly zeroed in on the perfect matching on either end of a given single R-G-B cable, by alternately tuning each end. That kind of fanatical. Like serious, dude. The connectors were gone due to hardwiring, and so was the need or reasons to maintain a 75 ohm connectivity balance. So I used my own cable choices, and tuned that to the inherent impedance considerations of the remaining aggregate conductive pathways. What I was trying to do and succeeded in doing, was to create a single (unstepped) aggregate impdeance pathway for the modified RGB amplifier work on the ATI card, to the initial modified RGB input stage on the CRT projector. Besides every other fanatically modified area of the system!

It was with this set-up, that I sussed out that scaling images from DVD's to 1080P was a righteous thing, and it took about 2 years, overall, of attacks from the other forum members before it was accepted. Even though I was outlining all the reasons why, repeatedly. I had a ATI based video card, with the HTPC scaling core and could and did experiment with pixel by pixel scaling changes. The highly modified CRT projector (no inherent display grid!!) gave me a chance to isolate the scaling engine on it's own, and thus discern what exactly scaling does to a given digitally sourced and processed image.

Those issues related to the idea of motional framing and how that relates to how the eye sees, scaling from the original 1080P master, etc, etc. Then it became the accepted thing.

Now it is on every DVD player.

A number of manufacturers of CRT monitors explain how the Earth's magnetic field affects the performance of their monitors. IIRC monitors are also calibrated in relation to the hemisphere in which they will be used.

That's why I always place my amp uphill from my speakers.
No sinking electrons in my system.
