The Vandys seem a great choice along with the Paradigm or Revel F12?

I listened to the Revel F-12 in a tile floor showroom (dont ask...) and i highly DISLIKED how they sound. they might just be what you are looking for however. bass and midbass heavy...but in a muddy manner. i was not impressed by their sound at all. I opted for the Bohlender-Grabener Z-92 instead. more low end extension, much more detail on the lows (less muddy) and crisper highs. Retail is $2500/pr. They are relatively new and not even on BG's website (www.bgcorp.com) with the exception of the press release.

I bought the Vandersteen 2Ce Signature II's about two months ago and I love them. I auditioned Paradigm, Definitive Technology, Dynaudio, and B&W models in the $3000 to $4000 range, and the Vandersteens were the clear choice.
For under $2000 I always recommend checking out the Vandersteen 2Ce Signatures as well.
I also think the Triangle offerings are damn good. The Celius ESW sounds really good. Should be able to find a pair on AudiogoN for $2000 or less.
scott1krr: Thanks for the suggestion. I will research it over the weekend. As for the in person suggestion, I'm very excited by the idea, but I'm on the other coast.
rgibran: Tried to reply to your suggestion earlier and discovered I had a 2nd step to submit my reply. I appreciated your suggestions and preliminary web research showed dealers for both Paradigm and Revel within driving distance.
I will try and listen to them in the next couple weeks.
bertdw: What didn't you like about the B&W's? I listened to the 704's and thought the high end was a bit pronounced and perhaps harsh for my test. Also, since you chose the Vandy's what drew them to you over the Paradigims and B&W's?
The B&W's I heard were the $4000 model, 804D, I believe? They were, as you said, a little harsh in the upper midrange, also a little flat in image depth, and didn't have quite the bass extension of the Vandersteens. All this at twice the price! They weren't terrible, and I could have lived with them, but it was, as they say, a no-brainer.
The Paradigm Studio 100's were quite good, but again, didn't have the Vandersteens' bass extension. What I liked most about the 2Ce Signature II's was the fact that they had no glaring faults. The B&W's distracted me with their harshness. The Paradigms distracted me with their bass roll-off. The Vandersteens played beautiful music.
oldnslow, just make sure your local dealer has given whatever speakers you are listening to a good break in period. The BG's are harsh right out of the box but will settle in quite nicely once you run use them for 20 hours or so.
