Mono amps have the potential to sound better due to the separation of power supplies. However, there are still plenty of design aspects that vary from manufacturer to manufacturer that precludes a standard answer.
Hi - willkommen to zee forumz
When compared to their integrated equivalent
Upside
Better channel seperation
Better Damping factor
Better ripple rejection
Better assymetric clip threshold
Better Slew rate (in most cases)
Drive more complex or difficult loads
Speaker wires can be very short (if placed close by)
Downside
More wallet aching cost
Take up more space
Two Power cables - power points
Will go through your floorboards if dropped (if Krell or Mark Levinson)
Will also herniate thoracic and lumbar vertebral disks.
Lift with your legs!
Is that because of the physical separation of the power supplies (because they could cause interference with each other) or because of the power-utilization problems of two channels sharing a single power supply?
