DUP, I fail to see where they make the claim you accuse them of? Could you cut and paste that specific text?

Hyperbole aside, the PS Audio DAC III is one damn fine sounding DAC!

according to Ps Audio it's finer than even the built in DAC of this unit that upsamples CD to 2X DSD!! Coverting PCM to DSD!!! And PS is gonna beat this for under $1,000. Me thinks Ps audio is blowing their own horn....and too hard making them dizzy. Esoteric also supposed to do things well, at least they have that magic transport, finer than any others. But PS Audio beat it, since Esoteric is using a built in DAC, and MF like it, why didn't MF know about this PS unit, and what about teh BenchMark DAC, that gets all teh raves just a short while ago? PS Audio don't know about BenchMark, so much BS, so many companies, like Real Estate ads, where they always pat themselves on their own backs, and all are members of some wonderful club that has all kinds of self inflicted awards, they all love themselves, audio companies love to pat themselves on their own backs, each month, another finast unit. Doesn't Ps Audio also make magic filters, that cure everything, and has blinking magic LEDs...now you know they are some crew.... http://www.emmlabs.com/html/audio/cdsa/cdsa.html

And here is what Van Alstine says about their Omega Star DAC:

Soem are Universal players so i can use DVD-A also, soem are changers so i can listen without changing discs every hour, some are this or that. they all generally sound similar, since they are all high quality stuff, not a clunker there. But AVA or BenchMark don't make blinking light noise filters. So anything PS says is to me, questionable. And AVA is proved, that the stuff he makes is usally as good or better than stuff costing much much much more. The Benchmark has a headphone jack and vol control that teh AVA don't. And i wanted to compare some hybrid stuff to pure SS. AND the chassis are entirely differnt between AVA and BenchMark. And...but in teh end, very similar sound...BUT it's now made we wonder is EMMLABS grossly over priced, BUT, EMMLABS does some thing none others do, upsamples PCM to 2X DSD 5.6Mghz, that's slick, and maybe AVA or BenchMark can do that for much much much less? Maybe that's the way to go on DAC, as chips get cheaper, and more avialble, maybe it's an EMMLABS patent? So they charge accordingly if others want it? But PS audio claims their's is THE FINAST ever, AVA says it's the best so far, of their line. AND AVA will update what you had previously. AVA has also been around longer than any of em...AVA has very high credibilty, big time credibility

Some selective reading there, DUP.

AVA said:

"It simply obsoletes all other DACs"

I'm sure Benchmark and Van Alstine would be saddened to hear you think their DAC's sound pretty much the same as your Onkyo CD changers. Considering the price difference one could assume you got bent over big time!

I thank you for your response. I'm sure the Real Estate industry appreciates you leaving them out of it as well.

Onkyo is SACD and they are upper end ONKYO. With those snazzy chips from that other outfit, Wolf or something, I have to go and look, but that is a compliment that BenchMark and AVA can sound similar to stuff that is supposed to be so swell in chip land. AND do it for less. But waht can teh EMMLABS upsampling do? Will teh AVA and otehrs sound just like the very pricey EMMLABS? SACD + 2X DSD Neither EMMLABS, BenchMark, AVA make magic blinking noise filers, or produce super horrible DVD about electrical power, that teachs nothing, it's crap. I'd put PS in teh same arena as self back pating as Carver, and other do nothings, but probably spend more time wording ads and crap. Both Carver and PS and several others, have such ideas that fade away, cus' it's nutin. McIntosh, Crown, AVA, Hafler, so many that keep on going...let's see how long a DZtel or what ever that disaster is called, lasts. The AVA did improve the 1990's Philips changers I use, since they had older concept DAC inside, but teh mechanics work fine, and replacement optical sled/laser are an entire $20 from MCM. VAM1202 and some other models, the same pickup/sled assy as used in some mighty pricey players, that I recently read about normally $26. on sale for $19 brand new laser/drive assys!!! So much for some of those extremely pricy changers, don't know what EMMLABS puts in his...but his main thing seems to be the DAC sections.
