I enjoyed them too ... more than I thought I would. I mean, I really enjoy Jeff's work and all, but was it really something that ought to be in Stereophile? Would it fit in. As I peruse this months issue (still just starting, it does take me most of the month to pick my way through the book) I find myself returning for occasional glances at the fun. At first I was just looking at Jeff's illustrations, but after a while I began looking at the flavor of the place and time through Jeff's eyes, and that little section of the Show Report sort of became a more personal proxy for being there than photo's could deliver. Seems to me a photo is something of a reminder of what happened and a reminder that you weren't there. While Jeff's illustrations are a little encapsulation of the experience and feeling of the moment, and, it seems to me, deliver a more personal glimpse into the moment.

I very much enjoyed the variety of illustration types. I think my favorite is Vanderstien's all-knowing point of observation in the dark. Thanks Jeff, for a little personal time at the show through your eyes!

Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed the feature. I had great fun doing it. My hat's off to JA for trying this different approach to a show report; the response has been positive from the posts I've seen here and at another forum. I'll be curious to see what kind of feedback the magazine gets, both positive and negative.

You're welcome, Jeff. And the picture of Richard Vandersteen reminds me that your pencil can still function in low light levels that would defeat a camera!

I like the one like the last supper, with all the holy men lined up at the table.

What an appropriate comparison, DUP.

Jeff, have you given any thought to making this drawing into a poster and getting it autographed by the "Apostles".
I'm sure it would sell.

I'll be most happy to autograph the poster to appease my loyal flock.

I appreciate the thought, Alex, of an autographed poster.
But what I'd truly enjoy is a poster of Roy...and a bottle of single-malt scotch.

I loved, loved, loved the art in this issue. Jeff is even more talented than I thought.

My favorite was J-10. That one didn't even look like a caricature

They were great images wryly capturing the moment.

The portrait -is- accurate but Jeff's skill makes it -seem- like a caricature!

Jonathan

mike53 - But, which editor gets to be Judas? If JA thought this image would sell, I'd be happy to have it made into a print or shirt. I suspect the demand would be miniscule--possibly by the editors, and then, maybe not even them!

Monty, Jan, flatmap, Jonathan, Yiangos - Thanks!

Such an appropriate question. I don't, unfortunately, know any of the editors...especially not well enough to commit character assassination.

The better question is, who gets to be Jesus?

Great images, Jeff...I've reserved space on the wall, above my audio rack, for pictures.

Mike
