You will be able to get yourself a very nice set-up for $1k, or less. I'm not familiar with the Yamaha turntable but I can say that both the Rega and the Pro-ject are nice tables and certainly worth the $$.
The Epos are also a worthwhile buy (I have the 303 model).
I've never heard the H/K or the Trend but the H/K get a lot of good reviews. I have to check into amps that would be affordable.
Others, much more knowledgable than myself, will be responding so keep a watch. Another newcomer recently asked very similar question. Check in the General discussions, oe other, forum. Keep us posted.
The HK receiver is a good deal.I had the 3480 and regret selling it.It has alot of hook up options,and the sound is very clean and smooth.Give it a shot dont think youll be disappointed.

I couldnt have said it any better.I have got a cambridge audio 640a int amp version 1,and I will sell it for 300.00 dollars if you are interested.excellent condition I just dont have a need for it as I upgraded this year.Let me know I will help if I can.Where do you live I am in NC.
I have the 840A, I am very happy w/ it. And for 300, I would have bought that 640, after hearing it, good value IMHO

Since I'm constructing my system primarily around playing vinyl, I'm looking for some more advice on entry level turntables. I'm considering: Pro-Ject Debut III, Rega P1 and the Music Hall MMF 2.1.
Does anyone have any experience/strong feelings about any of these brands?
Also does anyone have any advice concerning the differences between an Integrated Amp. with Phono preamp. versus a receiver with a built-in phono amp?
All of the turntables you've listed are good values. The majority of those who hang out here will probably lean toward the Rega, I'd suggest you go with the one for which you can get the best dealer support.
Regards the separate phono pre-amp vs. an included phono pre in either a receiver or an integrated my response is that with the speakers you're contemplating you will readily hear the difference in favor of the separate phono pre. There, on the other hand, is the crux of the matter. You need to be able to listen to the two set-ups yourself to decide. My preferences based on forty years or so of listening to lots of gear make no difference whatever. You're putting together a system for you. Don't buy anything unless you have heard it and liked what you heard.
