I didn't hear any differences between that one cable crossing itself (single loop) and with it laid out flat with no loop.

Inductor? With one turn? How many milihenrys did that do? What freq would that effect? Eesshhh, when does it end? What won't an audiophile beleive? coins on a speaker cabinet, and that is tuning something? What will an audiophile not beleive SQUARED. If this insanity was taken to a live event, nothing would get done. How did teh Beatles record so much stuff, or Elvis with all his stuff. and those recordings sound good. When did a speaker wire no become an inductor just because it's in a circle? Do you know how much CURRENT would have to flow through that wire to form anykind of reactive inductance with a circle that BIg? Is anything beyond the imgainary bunch of nonsense. Two houses are next too each other in Brooklyn, you know, they are forming a large capaicor!!! One has wiring from one phase the otehr comes off another leg of teh 3 phase in the town...the houses are big capacitors!!! Esssh, no wonder I can hear differences between my house and the other one. But, if I put a large tea cup under my house, the ceramic resonant frequency will nulify the resonance of the capacitive walls effect, so it really works, TEA CUPS in my BASEMENT!!! What do you mean you can't hear it? Don't say it ain't true, have you tried it yet? Nay sayers, scinece, didn't Einstein ignore the doudters, didn't Tesla tell Edison he was wrong. Furutech wall paltes, oversized, to tune the wall capactiance of two houses side by side....$2300. Available in gold Silver or titanium....Since there isn't anything audiophiles won't not beleive.

You are not a trained listener, or your system is not of high enough resolving power. Did you make sure your AC power is Furutech clear? Or the wire wasn't insulated enough to allow the differences to be heard. there isn't anything an audiophile won't not beleive.

I wasn't referring to the single loop, but, the massive coil in the back.

Oh, that is unused balanced cable. I bought that in case
I decided to experiment with the subwoofer as a pass through stage for the signals to the main speakers. It isn't connected to anything.

Even if it were being used, I've read that the electrical signal levels on regular interconnects, coupled with the EMF/RFI shielding doesn't allow for a large enough field for inductance to occur between the cables. Interconnects normally have low self-induced magnetic fields as well as adequate shielding, if they are well constructed - speaker wires are the only ones I have read that are worth worrying about since they are amplified signals. Even if a little somehow did occur, it would be cancelled out by the balanced circuitry, if I understand how it works correctly - one of the advantages of having balanced equipment.

I could hear reversed polarity on my last speakers, I don't plan on intentionally running those kinds of experiments with these new speakers. The topic isn't more than a passing amusement for me.

Interesting. Out of curiosity, what were they?

I imagine that speakers with a very good impulse plot would be best for testing the difference absolute polarity makes. Those that have drivers operating at various phases would probably mask any difference in absolute polarity.

On the inductance question. We don't have much to worry about unless we put a lot of coils in one of our cables.

However, I don't believe that balanced cables will offset the effects of inductance in coild balanced cable. Balanced cables address common noise added to a signal but cannot regain frequencies lost through inductance or capacitance.

Yet, if you coil a balanced cable just right so that the opposite phase of each leg cancels out the inductance of the other leg...

I'll let someone else conduct that experiment.

I misunderstood what he was referring to I think. I could hear it with my Bryston amp when intentionally reversing the speaker polarity with the Bryston amp settings. I realize now that he probably wasn't referring to the same thing, but rather a speaker that has reversed polarity between drivers.
