My experience with PS Audio power filters and regeneration equipment has been wonderful. Very, very impressive. Product support is also superb.

Let us know what you think afer you have lived with it for a while.

Good to hear the positive news! What piece do you own?
I look forward to the piece of mind, knowing that my Krell KAV-400xi, and the rest of my system, will be protected very well.

I had a P500 which I recently traded in for a Power Plant Premier - an amazing piece. I have also used their power cords and speaker cables. Finally, I have some of their little Noise Harvestors - cute little guys that actually do work, although the difference is pretty subtle. Then again, most of the tweaks we engage in are subtle.

The improvement the Quintet will make should not be subtle however. Good power makes a tremendous difference.

I have the UPC 200, which is similar. Awesome results, especially for $ 225 used on audiogon. Take it out of my system and the soundstage colapses. Made no difference on my 1080p LCD HDTV however. http://www.hometheaterinsider.net

It came in....very nice piece of equipment! The manual says that the supplied power cord, is good, but to get the most out of the unit, you should buy one of their more expensive cords, which run from $60-150. I'm not sure how much difference it would make, but I'm going to call it good for now, and maybe once my system upgrade is done, I will add one of the better cords.

Of course they are gonna sell you more stuff, do they give specs on the unit? do they give specs for the new cord that will improve things over teh cord that comes with this thing? There are SPECS in commercial UL NEMA products when being spec'd for a job that requires contracts and if teh stuff doesn't meet spec it gets removed....What kind of claims are made on this PS thing? There own test results or maybe some UL sepcs? A lot of Furman stuff is UL listed, used in commercial enviorments, harse treatment, without teh benefits of some magic wires. PS audio makes a wall outlet that used to be stamped "audio grade" too bad there is no such thing. Did the same genius mkae this thing? I see Furman products at live events most often, wonder why? Robust? Can deal with some real nasty stuff without failing? Or maybe some live sound pros need stuff that has specs, and they know it might do something. Did you get to view the PS DVD about Coal to Coltran, what a train wreck that is...eeesssshh. Glad it was Free, was worth every penny.

Good plan; it's more fun to add a later tweak when you can appreciate specifically what the new one does for you.

BTW, the power cords do work and will improve things more. Pretty cool stuff.

Intersting....I never thought about the UL Listing issue. I just looked through the manual, and did not see any sign of the UL logo.....not sure if that means it's insafe??
I will email PS Audio, and see what they have to say about this.
Thanks!

See if ya get the usual response, they build it to UL standards or above.....to bad if it ain't got the sticker and UL listed number it's not to the UL standards. Or even an ETL sticker would show it's built to some industry standard. There are a lot of stuff out there that ain't UL stickered, they don't wanna spend the money to have it tested by UL or ETL. I wonder why? A $20 hair drier usually has a all kinds of industry and different country certifications. Why not expensive stuff like this? Hmmmmmm.I think Furman Panamax(I think they are joined now) and a host of commercial stuff like Leviton surge stuff is all UL listed. There is no such thing as "audio grade surge spike stuff, I'd go with some comerical brands like Leviton, Furman, Brooks, Hubbell, I bet they have UL or CSA or some certs. UL does have a spike standard to which many devices are made....not having a UL listing doesn't necessarily mean it's bad, but having some sticker does mean it went through some industry standard tests. But then this is audio.....where magic is so prevalant over standard electrical designs and practices.

Reading tah nice full page ad for the PS unit on page 106. How they use lines like, "unrestricted power for an entire system"....So they mean i can use to provied my entire system which right now needs 3 AC lines in order to not pop some breakers, or this thing is not fused? that would seem not cool. How does "lots of wire" hurt dynamics. The larger teh amps which provide much higher dynamics, use nice extremely LARGE AC transfomrers feeding them...the bigger teh transformer the more wire in them. The better they sound, lots of energy on reserve, to fill the needs for slam and impact, dynamics. No "whimpy wires". No, i would expect any AC powered unit to have wires that match the current needs, bus bar or 12-14 ga mere wire handles plenty of current for home hi fi. How this is audible, is another question of mystics. The ad makes no mention of specs, in what it supresses etc. UL does have a standard for spike and surge suppresion. Don't see any UL or even ETL logs, wonder why it's not made to the basic standards for surge, spike supression? "Unrestricted power for an entire system"...if I use it to do just that and it goes up in smoke, is that covered under warranty? Never in all my yeaers have I had any electrical device that had "unrestricted power"....it's not possible, and unsafe, all electrical products better have built in restrictions, namely fuses, ckt breakers, thermal cutouts. Audio advertising is such a world of nonsense.

I think that the world's energy problem may have been solved. Restricted power in, unrestricted power out. How cool is that? The flux capacitor has become a reality.
Could be dangerous though, better use some of those devices that lift the wires off of the carpet.
