I did a quick search and only turned up references to the LP.
Thanks Jeff. I still have the record (didn't make that clear, sorry) and I wouldn't part with it. The problem is I currently lack a record player. I will rectify this sorry state of affairs eventually but in the meantime I would love to have a CD to rip and then play it at will.
It sounded like you still had it, but, just in case, I figured it wouldn't hurt to post the link. Although, it did dawn on me afterwards that the auction's being a "Buy It Now" should've prompted me to do the sensible thing and shoot you a PM to reduce the risk of you getting beaten to the punch if you didn't have the record. Unfortunately, I'm not equipped to do needle drops, otherwise, I'd try to help you out.

Perhaps we could get Mike Fremer involved for an example of what a good cleaning and spin on the Continuum can do.
Then, a trip through his Alesis Master Link onto a CD and you could tell us about how it sounds!
I'd even be happy to chip in some cost contribution!
Struts, don't you know anyone in your neighborhood who has an analog system you would trust who could copy your LP to CD? I'd gladly do it for you, but if I were you, I wouldn't think of risking a cherished LP on a round trip to the US.

Great idea Clay. Unfortunately I don't know anyone because we only moved to Stockholm recently. I have plenty of friends here but none of them are audiophiles. I'll can ask my dealer though. He's bound to know of someone.
Exactly! I'd love to make a CD copy of a cherished LP for someone that would adore having it.
BTW, I recently upgraded my Alesis Masterlink that I use for this purpose, but even more for location recording, with a Tascam DV-RA1000. The Tascam is similar, but has later generation ADC's, DAC's, and also records DSD. The Masterlink is nice, but the Tascam is amazing. 24/96 DAV-A's of LP's are amazing.

. Unfortunately you don't need to, they are multiplying quite quickly of their own accord at the moment thank you.
I am currently wrestling with the problem of an unusually high noise floor which is scuppering all attempts at critical listening. The problem is intermittent (but frequent) and varies in amplitude in a completely nonlinear fashion. Luckily it seems to be less of an issue in my headphone system which is where I do the majority of my listening.
Mpingo discs don't seem to help regardless of how many I apply and into which orifice(s) I attempt to insert them. The orange comforter seems to work (but not the pink one) however relief is at best temporary. Occasionally the noise is accompanied by certain 'complex' olfactory effects.
Some friends tell me that the problem often disappears of its own accord after about twenty years but that it changes in nature along the way... I wonder if anyone else on the board could possibly have experienced a similar issue?
Enjoy that noise floor while it's small. The noise gets bigger very quickly. My system is free of noises (I am known for constant tweaking), but, over the years, I have helped dampen (and undampen as the case may be) ones my brothers had (they're not audiophiles) and have witnessed high frequency oscillation that has led to instability. These noises are now reaching degrees unimaginable and I look back with fondness at the point you find yourself.
THE BOSS claims this is all my fault and that if I'd stuck to tweaking we wouldn't have this problem. It's always my fault. Whatever happens, it's always my fault...

That was certainly true of my purchase of the Grace m902, you too Elk?
In fact I strongly suspect that JM's taste and judgement have earned the trust of a good many readers and that his recommendations have quite a following out there.

I indeed checked out both the Grace and the Tascam at JM's recommendation. I auditioned each against other products and found that I agreed with him.
There are a lot of toys of pro-audio that high end enthusiasts should consider, and vice versa.
The Tascam is an especially amazing piece at the price.
