Duh........Wonder if Tektronix or Fluke worry about which way the fuese direction is in, on a $10K scope or caibrator. Oh, no, they don't do they? Do Fluke or Tektronix use magic AC line cords? hmmm, not teh ones I've seen or used. Only in the world of audio nonsense. T&M magazine doesn't have a cable of teh month procedure neither does EC&M at least not in the realm of nonsense audio stuff. But then, that Fluke and Tektronix stuff is only for measurements....as others say, let teh ears decide...hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha. But I bet the legit high end mfgs used some Fluke or Tektronix to make the stuff in the first place. So why would the end product need magic wire (today is vacuum or air "dielectric" snake, river or rock models) I guess those T&M makers just don't get it do they. A little real;ity science in audio would go a long way in weeding out teh wire scammers, connectors hucksters, plastic demagnetizer frauds. But advertising dollars keep the magazines afloat. How boring would a magazine be with only reality based stories and ads. Like in teh 50's and 60's, pre magic wire era. Bell labs research still holds up from teh 20's and 30's. Did they ever come up with any magic air or vacuum insulated wires they claimed made some old GE ceramic cartridge sound better? And yet tubes that where hi end in teh 20's and 30's are somehow the magic of teh 21st century? Why use such old technology from then, but somehow the wires they used didn't suffice today, wires, like you know with insulation on it, no rivers, no rodents, no reptiles, no magic twists and Taraized spaces and U.S.A. off shore magic. Which mountain is in your stereo? Which is is square, round or FLAT?
There are very expensive wires in some forms of scientific measuring equipment. Some may be directional for shielding purposes but I don't know.
Buddha,
For over 30 years I've been repairing/maintaning video and audio production equipment, PA systems, cable TV networks and have never seen such a fuse. Slo-blow, standard and ceramic fuses are the only ones I've ever seen.
I doubt it.Shielded cables, yes. Some special conductors and insulations, perhaps but all the things you mention is a kind of monopoly for nutcases like us !
It's about time the realitization of some kind of reality thinking.....only in the land of a certain level of audio nutcases, do they have directional fuses and wires. Medical devices, RF, Microwave etc., all kinds of specialized electronics, only audio talks about the directionaly of a fuse and a piece of WIRE!!!! I know the world is wrong and DEAF, only "audiophlakes" know how to listen and can hear this effect. The sound of a piece of PVC versus PTFE....is AUDIBLE, I know. Not at any live music event I've ever attened!!!! And that is the PRODUCTION of the sound, so why when you REPRODUCE it does it matter?!!!!!
Maybe i shouldan't refer to the specail ones as nutcases......how bout just logicaly thinking challenged? Pretty soon teh govt' may enact special protection in thte way of a new law, that will make it ILLEGAL to question the hearing abilty of those who hear teh sound of wire or the direction of a ceramic fuse!!! Who will be the one to start the petition to PROTECT the ones who hear the fuse? During teh development of DSD/sACD did Philips/Sony ever venture into the realm of hearing teh fuses in the new recording systems? Or in teh production of the discs, i never read any mention of teh artifacts of fuse sounds, in DSD recordings.
