Your post has me curious. What settings are you using in EAC? I'd like to try ripping my CD with the same settings. I only have the original Premonition pressing, but, it might still be interesting to see if it suffers from similar errors.
Going from memory I have EAC configured as follows:
I leave disabled the option that EAC will skip track extraction on a read or sync error. I similarly leave disabled the option that EAC skip extraction after X amount of time. Error recovery high (five bars on the recovery "meter"). (The error meter kept filing up with little red squares while ripping.)
Now that I think about it, these settings imply that EAC would keep trying forever. Yet it finally gave up.
I have never had EAC give up on any CD before.
But for having PlexTools to check the CD I would have no idea what was going on.
I just checked, I also have the original Premonition pressing.
Jeff.how comes mine is Blue Note/Premonition ?
I think when she signed with Blue Note, they re-released it and attached their name.
Additional data point: my Premonition pressing of Barber's "Modern Cool" is also full of C2 errors. From 15 minutes in to about 18 minutes there are thousands of erros - an absolute mess. These two CD are the worst commercial pressings I have seen.
Well that sucks!
My Caf
A very kind offer, Struts!
I'm set as I could copy them well enough with EAC so that there are no audible problems so I am content.
I still find it odd that there are so many problems with these pressings however.
Elk, I assume you've come across Accurate Rip on your travels. It can save a lot of time while still offering audiophile peace-of-mind.
Great idea! I've seen it but haven't used it. This is an excellent test case. I'll try it.
Thanks
