Hi rgibran,

First of all, thank you for the Marc Johnson "Shades of Jade" recommendation. Together with Manu Katche's "Neighborhood" and Tomasz Stanko's "Lontano", it makes my current ECM favorites set.
Another album that I only recently discovered is "Beyond the Missouri Sky".

I'll check out the "Nocturne" ...

Happy New Year ... loads of good music ...

Hey Altair,

Thanks for the feedback. I believe it was you who turned me on to Manu Katche

So, at about a quarter to 9pm Sat. night I am reading your post of Charlie Haden, of which I own none of his work. I am not about to drive the 12 miles to Best Buy or Borders in hopes they "might" have something on the shelf, and or, get there too late. The chance of them having it is nearer zero. Their retail disc space seems to be shrinking all the time.

So, I take a trip to the "dark side" and see my friend Darth Vader at ITunes. Gee, there it is, Nocturne, all for $9.99. Hmmmm...what is a soul to do? Ah, what the heck. Think of all the tree huggers I'll make happy not burning up $2.18 a gallon gas.

So I do the dirty deed and download it and burn the disc through the new Pioneer DVD/CD burner I installed in my wife's DSL equipped computer over Christmas. Gee, can Discwelder Bronze be far behind?

Man, what a great sounding MP3 play list Nocturne is through my Grados. I have full format Cd's and LPs of jazz, and , to be specific, with piano that is NOT recorded in this excellent fashion. My feeling is if the recording engineer gets the piano right he can most everything else right. To me that is the case here. Who ever recorded this really cared.

This is a great disc, uh, playlist. Whoops! At least I have found, thanks to you, more music that fits into the R2D4 list.

I will buy some shinny discs of Mr. Haden, but for now into my IPod you go Mr. Haden. You are coming along for a ride.

Regards,

altair

Yes, I have "the Ground" ... nuff said? Recommendations? A friend recommended Miroslav Vitous - Universal Syncopations. I have been looking for it ... Maybe next year ...

Have a nice one ...

Will do.

I have an Elaine Elias recording that is superb. The problem is I keep drooling all over her cover picture. She is georgeous.

Beauty, brains, and talent...what a combo!
