We don't hear what you hear.
What elements of sound quality have to be in place to form a synergistic pairing? If you can answer this question, you shouldn't need us to recommend any equipment.
What price is too much?
I meant the compnonents in my system to be contextual as far as the cost of the preamp, but I suppose I'd like to keep it under a grand. The reason I ask is not because I need to be told what I hear, but because I don't have access to a lot of preamps to try out in the first place, which is why recommendations are in order. I'm looking for something with a good soundstage, detail, and bass. My transducers are extraordinarily detailed already, so nothing harsh would go well. I've very little experience with preamps, and there are an unbelievable number of them out there.
www.avahifi.com Once you go VanAlstine, you realize most others are hyped overpriced. Try an Ultra EC pre-amp or SL. you will not be disappointed. Or even teh lesser priced models
