The funny part is that DUP listens primarily to music that relies on heavy distortion to produce its own sound signature.

Does DUP sit in his listening chair and say, "Damn, that Matt Oreo is distorting the sound of his guitar again."

I would think even higher levels of distortion would be "invisible" to DUP. His reference is so distorted, even Mikey Fremer might be able to hear it!

Buddha

(Said in a sassy voice) "Oh, no you didn't!" (Said in a mindless jock voice) "Double burn!" Absolutely priceless.

When guitar is played MAKING the music, the harmonics and desired sounds are part of the Creation of the music, when you play back the recordings, you don't want your stuff adding it's own distortions, or eliminating some of the overtones and HARMONICS of the music in the RECORDING!! One person suggested it is better to LIMIT the response of the electronics to 20-20kHz...that's RETARDED...and limit slew rate, DOUBLY RETARDED. Ask JA what kind of mics he uses for tests, with their extrodinary response range, which is advertised to blow awya conventional limited response mics. Ribbon mics, ribbon tweeters, all have EXTENEDED speed and rresponse. Earthworks are extremely full range mics, and extremly high SPL capable. Do you understand what REPRODUCTION is versus producing the original sounds? and you listen to high end? Hmmmm, you could go with a BLOSE and save yourself the effort os having to use wires in between. Reproduction is not the same thing as creating the music. Keep thinking about it. That's why they use tube amps OVERDRIVEN into distortion, if you look at guitar pre amps and amps, they have sections called overdrive, fuzz boxes, ....you really need some edumacation . I don't want added stuff to teh recordings, all the desired soudns where done in the studio, certain distortions etc. Even some older tube mics, have a sound of their own that when RECORDING and creating teh music and vocals, the artist wants in the recording, you don't want equipment in playback to change any of it, adding or subtracting, THAT'S what HIGH END REPRODUCTION is.

DUP, you love distorted sound...it's OK.

I think Stereophile should send you the broken Zanden and see how it sounds to you.

We'd probably get something from you like, "Wow! Matt Oreo sounds better than ever! Teh bass is just right, picking up his fuzz tone and distrotion just like how it soundeded at teh House of Blews in Chicago!!!!!! Voted teh best sounding place for live music in teh world by teh Helen Keller Music Appreciation Society!!!!!"

For a guy who hates Bose, you sure play music that uses alot of Bose for filling small clubs with those distortion products you love so well.
