Sounds like a great plan!
You could also go with a $139 Sonic T-amp (reviewed in this month's Stereophile) if you do not need a tuner.
Thanks for the feedback. Its' appreciated. The sonic t-amp is a good idea. I'll definitely look into it.
I don't know if I'd use the Sonic T-amp with Polk or PSB speakers...both are relatively low-impedence speakers, so they are more current-hungry than what the Sonic T-amp would be able to deliver with only 30wpc.
NAD is a good choice IMHO with those speaker choices at a decent price. Would also look at offerings from Rotel...
I think it actually depends on the size of the room. I have the Sonic T-amp paired with NHT Sb2s (86dB) and have no problem driving them at moderately high volumes...I am feeding it via a preamp (Denon AVR3300), so your results may vary.
I also have a Super T in my bedroom paired with an IO Data networked DVD player and it is more than loud enough with my Insignia speakers.
If you look around the internet you will find plenty of people using them with speakers of less than or equal to 90dBs without any problems.
