Certainly you can. Run the analog audio out of your computer into an integrated amp or receiver and drive your bookshelf speakers with that. There are more elaborate approaches, but that will do the basic job. Hope that is helpful, Craig. If I've been unclear about anything, come back at us and I or someone else will try to respond.
thanks, i have a reciever to use but exactly what cords would i need to connect everything? preferably i need something cheap. thank you so much for the help
CRAIG
You will need a stereo ep ( earphone) mini to RCA chord.
This is the type of chord you would need to connect a Walkman or discman or ipod from its headhone socket to an amplifier / receiver.
Connect one end of this chord ( the mini ep ) to the audio out on yr laptop. The 2 RCA connectors to the Left and Right AUX ( Auxillary ) channel inputs on your receiver.
For the receiver to the Bose speakers, I suspect orinary household wire will be adequate.
