I see no evidence of a come-back. Do you have any data?
It will be hard to say since I do not know of any performance that has been released in both formats with the same basic mixing/mastering. However, I would 'guess' from what I know of each that there 'may' be an advantage to SACD, in addition to its capacity for multichannel.
In any case, I doubt that HDCD will make a come-back.

Hi Kal
HDCD comeback?Did they stop making cd encoded with hdcd?
I thought all R.R. recordings up to date were made using hdcd !
You are right about RR. I am listening to their Joel Fan recital right now!! However, RR's total output, excellent though it is, doesn't constitute much in terms of the number of current releases. Never did.

I have no data. Just notice that some manufacturers are including it in their CD players. Plus I've seen a few new releases that include it.
Truthfully, I thought it was done and over in the mid 90s. Interesting to still see the logo here and there.
Well, these days the HDCD algorithm comes on one chip or another and, if the player company chooses one of those chips for whatever reason, HDCD comes along. Might as well advertise it if you got it!
I don't see it on the discs I've been getting but I could be missing it due to inattention.
