I read the Stereophile DM88 article with interest, especially the discussion on the upgrades made to the 1st generation Halcro design.
I am in the market for a DM38. In response to my query, Halcro suggested that the DM38 features design refinements that go beyond the DM58/68, refinements that have recently been implemented in the DM78/88. They stopped short of saying that the DM38 has all of the design upgrades featured in the DM78/88.
In making a long term investment in such an amplifier, one would wish to avoid a design that has been superceded or is soon to be. No one could expect the DM38 to perform as well as the DM78/88, but it is not unreasonable to ask if the DM38 design reflects the latest research by Bruce Candy, and features the best technology and parts that are currently available. If the DM38 design lags behind by a few years, then this puts the buyer at a relative disadvantage.
Thanks for any advice on this matter.
