Mac or PC?

iTunes seems to be the only current software that allows me to burn Audio CDs at 1x.

Most others only offer 4x burning speeds and above.

I prefer iTunes at 1X, but Roxio Toast at the slowest setting is comparable. Best advice is get a Mac.

Please define what is meant exactly by "audiophile quality CD's or DVD's"? There's quite a bit of snake oil flowing around the audiophile world and just labeling something "audiophile quality" doesn't automatically make it so.

As far as I know from over five years of experience burning CDs and DVDs all that matters is that one gets the data from the original CD, i.e. the CD being copied, in as faithful a version as possible and for that the gold standard is, as Jeff Wong stated, Exact Audio Copy. What program one then uses to burn the data onto a blank CD is of little consequence.

Audiophiles just love to create voodoo, magic and all kinds of nonsense where it doesn't exist. Get over it. Read some books and magazines on computers and learn something new for a change.

Try Audiograbber(use it's rip to ram setting) for rippping and as jazzfan says, use your favorite burning software.

I burn with Iomega Hotburn at 4X using an external Iomega CDR drive with an upgraded PSU.

I also clean my CDs and treat them with IP8500 and a Nespa
Pro before ripping. The blank CDRs are also be cleaned
prior to burning.

I use Burrrn.  Free program, simple, allows all speeds, hasn't disappointed once.  Worked great for burning my collection of lossless and wav files.
