Just a couple of questions: 1- How much vinyl do you have? 2- What on earth makes you want to convert all of it to CD format? You've seemed so level headed up till now that the project you're proposing has me baffled.

I'll offer this as a personal experience. A few of years ago I started a project transferring some of my oldest vinyl (30-40 years) to CD using diligent manual and electronic "scrubbing" to clean out pops, clicks, etc. I did transfer many LP's and wound up being able to play them in the car etc., but I also wound up upgrading my analog front end, enjoying my old vinyl more than ever, and buying lots of new vinyl pressings. Perhaps your experience will be greatly different, but you can't be sure.

Hi Clay

I am not sure how many lps i have. Not many i suppose, compared to others.Actually what i want to do is convert my really old vinyl, back from high school days, you know, the really "screwd up" vinyl vinyl into cd but another reason i am looking for a good cd recorder,is to make cd for the car.Oh,and a have lots of cassettes i would like to transfer to cd.
Clay,stop worrying.I haven't gone to the dig..errr dark side

Okay guys.Did some research and here's my findings.
Tascam dvra1000 sucks.
Alesis masterlink ml9600 bpt modified - great but expensive
Alesis masterlink ml9600 - close but no cigar
HHB cdr830 plus - Interesting - good value though couldn't find any reviews.
To be honest,i am between the plain masterlink and the HHB , any comments?

Yiangos - Another option might be to invest in a soundcard with a good A to D converter and feed your vinyl into your PC and use that to burn CDs...

Hi Jeff
Can't do that.Although i have a Tai-Chi watercooled tower,it is stuffed with video cards,yes,i'm a gamer lol.
With a pair of 7800 gtx 512 cards, nothing else will go into the case.

Tascam makes a whole bunch of other models as does Marantz.
