A lot of times there is an adjustment for the speed of the motor drive. You might have to dig into the undercarriage for it.

Someone around here may be able to help out if we know what 'Nostalgic' player means. Any names, or other identifying infomration? Or you may be able to find a local stereo shop that could tweak it for you.

When I said Nostalgic player, what I meant was one of those players you see in magazines that were built out of wood, and made to look very old...

If I go into it, should I look for a POT around the motor assembly?

PS: All makes and models seem to use the same turntable assembly...

Hi and welcome to the forum.
No,do not go "into it".Not only it is dangerous but you'll make more damage.Unless there is some kind of "speed control" you should ask the help of a service department.
Mind you,the reason we asked for brand/model is most turnatbles have some kind of a hidden control or need a certain procedure to adjust the speed.Anyway, even if you are able to adjust it,you can't just do this by ear !

Well, I should mention I am experienced in electronics, so me going into it would be a walk in the park for me...

This is the unit: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=7253492&type=product&id=1115366829249

If there is no speed adjustment on it, I could clip a resistor and install a POT if I had too, to make speed adjustment possible..

Sorry, not familiar with this unit nut you could check the manual. If there is some kind of adjustment,it should be there though i suspect being an all-in-one unit with a cd player etc it probably has some kind of let's call it "electronic digital speed adjustment" which went AOL

Belt could still be slipping, powder it with some Talc. It's a true "nostaligic" replica...it functions just as if it where truly 50+ years old. Off spee. Looks like ya got a real museum piece. did you try upgrading the AC line cord?

AC line cord? The cord going into my outlet? That one is as new as the system itself (not a year old yet)...

As for the belt slipping, I checked it again.. when the belt is on the platter, it fits perfectly, as if I don't really need to stretch the belt at all.

Now, when I am playing a record, and it seems to be playing slightly slow, if I aid it along with my finger on the label part of the record, it will speed up to the proper speed quite easily...

I also tried something else.. I removed my record, turned it on, and tried to stop the platter from moving (to test slipping), and I tell you, it put up a fight, it just didn't want me stopping it...

I think that DUP might have been throwing a joke at you.

With your electronic background, I would say 'yes' look for a POT for speed ajustment. The problem is, that you reported that it use to run correct. This says to me that something went south. Not in the old way, that you need to adjust something, but in the new way that something went 'POP'. What it is? I don't know (software guy, not hardware guy). There should be some way of contacting customer support either from the company, or the store.

Sadly, the only customer support from the company is chinese, and he don't respond to my emails in both english and chinese (translated via my computer)...

I will take it apart and look for a pot.. If one exists, ill simply have it lower the resistance... if there is no pot, ill find a resistor on the DC motors line, de-solder it, and install a POT, to make it user adjustable... (of course, find out what resistor im removing...)

You let the computer do the translation ? no wonder why he is not answering you ! It (the computer) probably said some nasty things about the guy's family. lol

Hi, Evilweredragon -- you got off cheap. A hundred bucks for an all-in-one unit. Admire the woodwork. If there are mice inside, give 'em a steroid fix twice a day. Seriously, there's just not a hell of a lot you can do to make a player in this price range toe the line. Sample-to-sample variability is probably 2 standard deviations from whatever mean got onto the assembly line. And THAT was probably off 10%. Enjoy it for what it is. Cheers and happy tunes, Clifton.
