There is a good lesson to be learned in all this.

Always hold your breath when turning on and off tube gear.

I'm glad to hear you got your Velleman VAA-70 (Stereo-70) fixed. I did say selling the one I once had was one of the dumber things I've done. Did you ever get the input tube question answered?

Monty, that a new tweak for me :-)

Joe, I think so... I beleive its a 6F2 or ECF82 6U8 and will hopefully test that tonight.
To add fuel to my fire.....
I was searching the web for information on the amp when I came across a posting on another forum site all about hum, heat, and tubes for this amp. The poster questioned the finding of a burnt section on the circuit board and the replacement of a resistor with one of a different value. He also posted pics.
I compared the photos to my new amps board and whoaaaaaa .... it was his amp.

I contacted him but he doesn't remember much about the amp except that it went to the east coast.
How bizaar that it falls into my hands.

The replaced resistor was of the smae type and ohm but the wattage rating was higher. The one I had to replace was the same situtation since I could only find 5 watt wire wounds and not the 2 watt initially used upon build.

Its playing sweet and I'm hoping I can pick up my new EL34s today.
