I've been listening to classical music through my tuner for the majority of my time as of late. A few discs that keep finding their way into my player when I'm not "tuning" are:
Supertramp, Some Things Never Change
Donald Fagan, Morph The Cat
Steve Winwood, About Time
Otis Spann, Good Morning Mr. Blues
Sonny Boy Williamson, Keep It To Ourselves
Nancy Bryan, Lay Me Down
Janis Ian, Breaking Silence
The Supertramp and Winwood discs probably slipped under the radar of otherwise fans. Both, are real keepers for a couple of tracks where they really strut their stuff and show what decades of experience can offer.
Aaron Copland-Piano Sonata, Violin Sonata, Vitebsk (old CRI LP)
John Fahey-The Yellow Princess
Joseph Holbrooke Trio-The Moat Recordings
Steve Earle-The Revolution Starts Now

Charlie Poole-"You Ain't Talkin' to Me"

Wow!
Killer lists!
We just had a blissful week away from civilization with only (sadly, no vinyl) the CD player to provide any electronic entertainment.
let's see, we grooved multiple times on...
Donald Fagan: Morph the Cat
Morphine: Cure For Pain and Good
Mazzy Star: So Tonight That I Might See
Cannonball Adderly: Somethin' Else
Joni Mitchell: Court and Spark
Dar Williams: Mortal City and Honesty Room
Bob Dylan: Blood on the Tracks
The kids played: Jack Johnson's Curious George disc alot, and it wasn't bad. They also spin alot of They Might Be Giants, Green Day (what is it about 6-8 year olds and Green Day?), and plenty of Keith and Mick. We wanted to get a feel for the last ten years or so of Stones music, so we kept Voodoo Lounge, Bridges to Babylon, and Bigger Bang going. I like 'em, but when you've done Let It Bleed, Beggars Banquet, and Exile on Main Street, it's tough to keep it at that level.
No offense to fans, but I'm just not connecting on The Decemberists or Arctic Monkeys.
We've got the new Rhett Miller yet to hear, as well as Willie Nelson's new disc.
Oh, The Eels have a new live set I haven't spun yet, but it's on deck!
So are The Yeah Yeah Yeahs - I bet Stephen Mejias is friends with Karen O.
Next from the shop...k.d. Lang's new disc had some bits played on the 360 Show and sounded good.
I've actually never met her, but we have a few mutual friends. Our bands almost played together on a couple of occasions, but that never worked out. So it goes.
I like what I've heard of the new album, but it strikes me as tame. I'll have to give it more listens.
