You might try a set of Vibrapods. They're relatively inexpensive - I just don't know if they'll dampen your speaker vibration enough.

You could also try some sorbothane sheets or Blu-Tack (but, bear in mind these might stain the table finish):

If you have an old shirt hanging around, pop the buttons off and try them under your speakers. Three for each speaker.

Shirt buttons? The hard, little, translucent/pearlescent ones? What a neat tweak.

Hmm... the shirt buttons help a little bit, as do more coins: stacking two dimes on top of a nickel seems to work pretty well... there's a nice gap between the bottom of the speaker and the top of the book.

I still find myself going back to my Grado SR-60 headphones for serious listening though... even in the best of conditions my speakers are unlikely to sound as good. Oh well.
