Welcome Bluesdaddy,
I recently recommended one of Jimmys' discs HERE
RG
Thanks, "Home Cookin'" sounds like a good one. Combines old love (blues) with new love (jazz). Very cool.
I think any Jimmy Smith collection has to begin with "The Sermon" and/or "Back at the Chicken Shack". Also, some of his best work with Wes Montgomery comes on "The Dynamic Duo".
Two others I'd check out are (1) his work with Joey DeFrancesco on "Legacy" and (2) "Root Down". "Legacy" is a recent CD (a year or two before his death) which pairs Smith with one of the newer masters of the Hammond playing updated (but still classic) versions of Smiths more famous tunes. "Root Down" is a little bit of a departure for Smith, with a bit of a raw "jam-band" feel and maybe a little more aggressive playing than what you'd normally expect from Jimmy.
Here is link of some last concert by Legend Jimmy Smith in my country;

For fans, Roman
Killer thread.
I've gotta add a couple of those to my list of things to catch up with!
Thanks.
