"We're not monkeys?"
What an ironic and totally Freudian use of the term!
Those guys were Malcolm McLaren's "Monkees," for sure.
A one album career that fed two "comeback" tours.
The Pistols are the Brittany Spears of punk: pre-packaged, made up and wearing make up, in costume, with no original contribution from the artist, devoid of skill...
A picture of the Sex Pistols should be next to the Webster's entry for "POSEUR."
They even spit like pussies. Plus, I bet half their income went to hair gel.
That's it, I got an analogy!
They were to punk what hair bands are to metal, only less so!
I bet they didn't even write their own Hall of Fame note. Sex Pistols marketing probably did it after some focus group research, with deliberate syntax and spelling errors.
There's more of Pygmalion than Pistol about them.
Monkees is spot on, only he spelled that wrong in the note, too.
Sid = Mike Nesmtith
Johnny Rotten = Davey Jones.
When do they play Branson?
As forgettable as the Sex Pistols are for me, the two Malcolm McLaren LPs are all-time faves of mine.
When we moved from Santa Fe to NY, I drove through southwestern Missouri 3 times on the Tulsa to St. Louis leg of the trip, and every time I saw the sign for Branson, I thought about taking the time to check it out. To my shame, I never did :-(

Of course, of course, all true but beside the point. And for me, "Ballocks" is a great rock album even if they didn't write a word or play a note of it.
Sad postscript: According to the Village Voice, Miles Davis' son Gregory can't afford a ticket to the HOF Induction (they're $2,000 apiece) since each inductee gets only two comps and Miles' estate has already given them out to other family members. But since the Pistols aren't going it might be nice if...

Completely fair. Milli Vanilli is probably feeling a little exonerated right now.
When are they eligible for the Hall?
Buddha remind me to stay on the right side of you. A well written and scathing rebuke for some of the worst rubbish to come out in the late 70's and early 80's!
Punk was lost on me, but I like the Clash and have a number of their LPs, but all of these guys were followers! Punk was established so non-musicians could play their own music too...
Sorry for the repeat of this post from the Galleries comments section but I rise to defend not the Pistols but the great Groucho.
It's Captain Spaulding the African Explorer and the line is "Did someone call me schnorrer?" which is Yiddish for parasite or sponger. Look it up in the dictionary. It's right under a picture of my brother-in-law.
Well how about that! I wondered if it was just a pronunciation thing!
Now go, and never darken my towels again!
Good response!
The RAMONES !!!!!! Great stuff. All else are mere wannabes.
