For those lementing the single life on Valentine's Day, consider taking the $125 you just saved on flowers, candy, dinner and a movie and putting it towards some new tunes, a bottle of LP#9 stylus cleaner, some vibrapods and a 3 yr subscription to Stereophile. Or, maybe jump on Ebay or Audiogon and grab those used cables and interconnects you have been itching to try.

If you really, really, really have the blues, stop by the local animal shelter and give a critter a new lease on life. The good thing about cats and dogs is you can stay out all night, come home smelling like another woman and the dog or cat will still be glad to see you.

VIBRAPODS!!! You don't really use those things, do you Monty. Worst tweak I ever tried under a CDP. Drained the life out of my music, across the board. Perhaps you like em, but I would suggest, as a test, whatever you have them under, remove them and see if you don't prefer the sound without them. OK...flame me.

I've found Vibrapods useful sandwiched between shelves to cut down on vibration, but, prefer Black Diamond IV cones directly under components. Quite often, I've found compliant materials like sorbothane do rob some liveliness from gear when directly coupled to components... so I relegate them to sandwich duties.

No, I don't actually have any Viprapods. I was just using them as examples. I've tried sorbothane under my gear, but can't say that I noticed any improvement in sound. I do believe in placing weight on components and speakers and using spikes whenever possible. I've even considered drilling holes in the bottom of my stand mount speakers and inserting self tapping nuts to allow me to bolt the bottoms of the speakers to the stand and experiment with pressure and stability.

Needless to say, I don't mind 'spearmenting with stuff.
