I'm a cable nut and have never heard of that cable. Audioquest used to make an interconnect that they called the Ruby. I think it has since been replaced by what is referred to as the King Cobra.

There have been so many new cable manufacturers pop up over the last 5 years that nobody knows who they all are.

I'm reasonably sure that there is a misunderstanding somewhere.

If you have listened to this combination at the dealer and liked what you heard, then I would certainly consider the cables and interconnects that were used to listen to the system.

If the cables are either out of your budget or if you noticed a particular area of reproduction that bothered you with the system then I might be able to offer some considerations.

Cables are somewhat like tone controls, if the system is bright then you can help it out with a warmer sounding cable. If it is lacking in resolution and a little on the dark side of neutral then you can use a little silver in your IC and or cable to juice her up a bit. In almost all cases, there is a trade-off in some frequency to gain in another frequency.

Cable is a very real component and has solid scientific measurements that can be related to the sound characteristics of various designs, conductor and insulation material and most especially the size of the conductor's effect within a specific frequency range and its ability to be out of the audible range of distortion.

My default recommendation for an entry level system is either a Kimber PBJ or Audioquest King Cobra interconnect and Audioquest Type 4 speaker wire. This mates up a reasonably high resolution IC with a full range, but slightly warm speaker cable that doesn't emphasize any particular frequency band. Many cables can tilt up the frequency extremes at the expense of the mids...this combination doesn't seem to do that.

The Type 4 is not a bi-wire cable and would need to be used as a single run with the jumpers provided on your B&Ws. It's very inexpensive as far as cable goes and should you decide to try it, run the positive on the lower driver and the negative on the upper driver in a cadi-cornered fashion.

The King Cobra will run somewhere around $150 for a meter and the PBJ about half that. The Type 4 should run around $100 for a 8ft. run with terminations. The King Cobra is shielded and might be a safer bet if you live in the city, an apartment or suffer from rf/emi problems.

Let us know how it all sounds when you get her going and have burned everything in for a week or so.
