What do your ears tell you?

IMHO, reviews should only be used as a general guide or a pointer to turn you onto a component. Musical satisfaction is so personal...

It may be overstated here, but the final arbiter should be you and your ears.

Hi TEvo, I totally agreed with you. But my problem is i may not have the chance to test both CDP in one shop using the same Amp. and loudspeaker.

Does one or both shops permit home demo?

Hi Siubo ,
You should definately find a way to compare them but if you can't,based on personal experience ( i own cary 306/200 ) ,
the cary is not a good match for overly bright systems. So,if your system tends towards brightness,go for the meridian.

Don't overlook Simaudio Moon's latest Evolution Series components, particularly the Moon SuperNova CD player.

Hi TeVO,
Actually I am still in the preliminary phase of my products search. In fact I am a very new person in this hifi area and would like to upgrade my whole system. The exisitng one is a very basic entry level: NAD C370 Integrated Amplifier, NAD C541 CDP (it has a problem of not closing the CD door and that's why it's urgent to buy CDP first) and Audio Note floor standing loudspeaker. I've no idea whether the same shop would have both Cary and Meridian for sale/demo. I wonder if it;s ok to buy CDP first, then later change the amplifier as well..

Hi Yiangos, In fact I'm an entry person in Hifi with an existing very basic system (NAD C370 Int. AMp, NAD C541 CDP which has the CD door broken, and Audio Note speaker). I ahve to replace the CDP first and then may change a new Int. Amp later. I listen more on vocals and JAZZ, sometimes philharmonic orchestra and also softer music. So pls give me some advice...CDP i came across Cary and Meridian, and Int. AMp i came across Krell 400xi and Meridian G51...
