Last year DG issued an interesting compilation of the Bartok piano concertos - one conductor (Boulez), three orchestras, and three pianists (Zimmerman, Andsnes, and Grimaud who does No. 3). Have you heard this, and if so what is your ranking of it? The reviews I've seen have been uniformly good but I haven't heard it yet.

Thanks for the detailed reply. I've been waiting to ditch my Donohoe/Rattle version for some time and I thought that this compilation might be an answer. Musically it obviously is. It looks as if I'll have to try it out to see if I can live with the lack of sound quality. It would seem that DG are returning to their days of sonic inattention that peaked with some of the atrocities recorded by Karajan (sonic atrocities I mean).
