Follow up question to Mr. Sam Tellig. Purchased 3 days ago the musical fidelity A3.5 cd player and A3.5 integrated amplifier...got interested with these upon reading your reviews last october. I am very satisfied with my purchase but after learning that the X-10v3 is a stereophile class A product, i would like to request for your opinion whether the X-10v3 connected in between my cd and amp would improve the sound quality of my system...or am I better off leaving my 3.5 cd and amp by themselves without the X-10v3?

My 2-cents on the matter... I very much enjoy the sonic benefits the X-10V3 provides in my system. That tube magic for me translates into a subtle addition of warmth and a smoother, fuller, more expansive sound.

Source consists of NAD C542 used as transport in conjunction with MF X-DACV3, X-10V3, X-PSUV3. Control/amplification provided by MF A3.5 (upgraded recently from NAD 720BEE) driving Quad 11L standmounts.

These days, I guess I'm firmly in the Musical Fidelity school of thought when it comes to my hi-fi system.

Money-back guarantee is not an option from my dealer. I'll take a "minor" risk and purchase it soon, besides I haven't heard any negative comment regarding the effect of X-10v3. Thanks!

I'm not sure what Sam might say, but I join Tevo in touting the XPSUv3. You can add it later if the tube buffer pleases you - as I'm confident it wll. The outboard power supply makes everything a bit better in my judgment. Besides, in my case, it also provides power to my MF phono preamp.

Might want to make your move on the X10 soon, though. My favorite Chicago dealer is advertising that after selling more than a thousand of them, they've received the final stock available from the manufacturer.

Merry Christmas.

I don't believe Sam's piece on the X-10V3 is available on the site as of yet. However, I do I believe Sam has similar sentiments about the X-PSUV3 outboard power supply- as it applies to another X-series component, the X-DACV3.

Wow! Just spent about 3 hrs listening to my system with the x-10v3 newly installed in between the cd and amplifier and it indeed improve the overall sound of whatever im listening to...vocals and instruments sudddenly became fuller sounding with more body and warmness. I noticed though that a little of the detail and clarity was lost in exchange for the benefits of introducing the tubes in the line. I feel like my system sounds much much more expensive than the $399 i spent for the X-10v3. Thanks for the inputs...Cheers!
