Nice summary, and terrific overall coverage of the event.WRT the "tough environment" issues....On the one hand, it would be great to listen to systems under ideal conditions (whatever those are and wherever they may exist).OTOH, many (most?) home listening environments are less than ideal - refrigerator doors get opened, A/C kicks in, and the hi-hi shares the room with the LCD TV and the Stairmaster. Oh, and sheetrock walls flex and pump.So what is the most appropriate eval setting?[rant] And shouldn't the exhibitors - professionals who may be expected to not only sell gear but make it work in home environs - have the wherewithal to treat a hotel room? (Most were local, and therefore had access to materials). Why did some rooms sound so good? Better product design? Better choices by the exhibitors? Lucky matching with room dim's?Clearly, small rooms favor small systems, but some big boxes faired well too. Big panels, not so much (except the Quad 2805s).Food for thought, anyway....BobBAAS
