Clive Cussler

I caught Sahara on the tube the other night, and thought its blend of pure mindless fun and solid barely plausible technical background was perfect. It wasn't a great movie, but it was a great guy-flick.

It made me wonder if Cussler's novels share that gee-whiz quality. So does this CS Monitor interview.

I've enjoyed Cussler's Dirk Pitt novels for many years; real ripping yarns! Full of action and the good guys always come out on top. An interesting car is always featured in each story too, somehow, as Cussler is a certified car nut. The much delayed Sahara movie was lots of fun, but for some reason Cussler disapproved of the final product, so my hopes for a long series appear to have been dashed..
