The NEW Rega RP-1 Turntable!

Well, all the cool kids are going to want one of these. Rega strikes back with their new RP-1 turntable.

For now, all I know is what you know. Click here for the pretty pictures, a nice new logo, and a list of appetizing features.

But I'll tell you this:

Rega's new RP-1 turntable might just be the perfect source for Stereophile's new monthly column, "The Entry Level." But, we'll see about that.

Very cool, and possibly a response to the negative commentary they have been receiving online about the durability of the previous P1. I have not heard that model but I did pass on an entry-level Rega as the upgraded models (like the one Stephen enjoys at home) did not fit into my budget. (The ProJect Debut III did.) But Rega has a stellar reputation based on what one reads across the Internet, as well as Stephen's periodic plugs about how happy his table makes him. So one question for anyone who may know: How much are they charging for this?? (I did not see that info. on their site.)

Stephen,Thanks for the update. This could a homerun if the price is not much about the current $399. They need to send one to AD right away!!!!

Oh my goodness, are you getting a column? (Crosses fingers.)

Sam's picture

Yes, I too would love to see a column about 'entry level' penned by Mr. Mejias. Here here!

Count me in for the 'I'd love to read a regular column by Mr. Mejias in the magazine' group. Bravo Stereophile!

Ditto. Yay Steven!

I would love to see Stephen with his own column! DO IT!

Thanks, guys. The current plan has the first installment of the column in our the January 2011 issue. We are now shipping October to pre-press, so we're only months away.

This would be so great. I love Stephen's writing, and I love his particular interests (vinyl and analog audio generally).

I'm with JHalpern: DO IT!

That's great news. Stephen's enthusiastic passion for audio and more importantly music, makes the refreshingly youthful slant in his writing a heretofore underrepresented viewpoint in the audio press. His voice will be most welcome as a regular addition to the magazine.

Oh, you guys. You will all be characters in this column, I hope you know. The Monkeyhaus Crue in full effect.

Add me to the list of enthusiastic supporters. Always enjoy Stephen's blog and he has as often pointed this 53 year old towards new music as reminded me about forgotten favorites. Go Stephen.

Outstanding!!!!! Congratulation! I am really stoked for you and look forward to reading it. I hope Sam's health returns. But this is really fun news.
