Severely Damaged (WTF?)

Upon opening the package, which had been shipped from South Africa, we found that one of the two replacement drive-units had been severely damaged. Crikey!

Possibly a pressure sensitivity? I imagine this is what it would look like if you gently sucked on it from behind (don't go there).

That's what we thought, too, but the people at Vivid tell us they've corrected for any pressure differential during shipping, etc. The package showed no signs of tampering, in fact, showed no signs of damage whatsoever, so it remains a mystery.
