I learned of Nizar's unexpected passing this afternoon. He made many positive impressions on me over the years - the last time we spoke he enthusiastically told me to buy a particular demo disc from him during the RMAF show. I took his advice and went back to our display room and played his disc to the absolute delight of everyone present. I guess in the wider consideration that's what you can say about Nizar's contribution to our industry - he lived a life to absolutely everyones delight. Rest in peace knowing you touched many many hearts. My finest regards - JB
We at Sonneteer are still in some disbelief. Nizar was one of the people who helped steer us through our early years as a company even before he represented us in North America. Always a joy to talk to and joke with at the end of the telephone. I last saw him at the Son et Image in Montreal and befittingly the last exchange we had was humorous. So my last impression of him will forever be with a big smile
I am very sorry to hear of Nizar's passing. I had been a friend of Nizar's and done business with him for 32 years. I remember Nizar as a person who always wanted to be sure my customers were taken care of. If there was ever a problem, even outside of warranty, he bent over backwards, way beyond the call of duty to be sure the customer was taken care of. I could always count on Nizar to "do the right thing". I always honored this trait in Nizar. To the person who was asking what the figure in the award is, it is an inunnguaq. It is an Inuit figure made of stones that were used for marking and signaling their passing. Also used to frighten caribou into an enclosed area to assist in hunting since many thousands of years ago.
