Charitable Audiophiles

August is shaping up as a great month for audiophiles and good causes. The Cable Company's annual "Summer Against Hunger" campaign is in full swing, and Rockford Home Group has announced that the first production unit of the 50 limited-edition FAP V1 vacuum-tube surround processors (see previous) will be auctioned via eBay with proceeds donated to charity.

The FAP V1 will be open to bidding August 22–August 31, 2003. During that period, RHG suggests that interested bidders should visit http://members.ebay.com/aboutme/fosgateaudionics/. RHG reports that all proceeds from the sale of the FAP will be donated to Jim Fosgate's two favorite charities: the Children's Justice Center and Arts-Kids. Both charities are located in Fosgate's home state of Utah.

In addition to receiving the first production unit to be hand-signed by Fosgate himself, RHG says that the winning bidder will be offered to an expense-paid trip to the CEDIA Expo, September 5–7 in Indianapolis. Along with touring the show, the winner will be the "star attraction" at a special press conference in the RHG booth, #1508, on September 6 at 4pm, where Jim Fosgate will present the certificate of ownership.

RHG's Brian Carlsness says, "The FAP V1 represents the pinnacle of Jim's talents as an audio pioneer and lover of music. Given both its unique design and appeal to only the most demanding audio enthusiasts, Jim asked to auction the first of these units to the benefit of two worthwhile charities that cater to the needs of young people."

The Children's Justice Center, with various locations in Utah, provides a comprehensive, multi-disciplinary response to child sexual abuse and serious physical abuse in a neutral, child-friendly setting. Its stated purpose is to coordinate and track investigation, related medical service, prosecution, treatment, and training in order to protect the best interests of the child and the community. Arts-Kids provides experience in the expressive arts process, including visual arts, movement, music, and drama, for children between the ages of 9 and 12 years.
