Classified Ads Come to the Stereophile website

There is no denying that buying pre-owned high-end gear can easily provide the biggest bang for the audio buck. Many of us got our first glimpse of sonic nirvana after scoring some second-hand component at a fraction of its retail price. Or perhaps you've just bought a new product and need to unload that old classic hanging out in the closet. Stereophile wants to help.

Folks have long been asking us to add an online classifieds feature similar to the one we run in the back pages of the magazine. We've partnered with Santa Barbara, CA–based HiFi Classifieds to add a classified ads section devoted to used high-end audio equipment to the Stereophile website. (You can still place ads in the print magazine by clicking here).

Another classifieds website? We wouldn't have bothered if we couldn't improve on what's already out there. Free ad listings for individuals/consumers are increasingly rare these days, but we have them—along with the Internet's best deals for merchants who might like to clear out some of the old stock hanging around the store. Along with commercial accounts, individuals' non-commercial ads can be featured on the classifieds home page for a modest fee. For more information about free ads and rates, sign up for a free account on the site or contact sales@hificlassifieds.com or go to the classifieds help page.

If you want to list an item for sale, we've made the process as simple as possible, with fewer steps required for placing ads than are required at other sites. And we're not selfish—folks can place ads and also link to outside auction sites using our "For Auction Elsewhere" feature. Unlike most classifieds/auction sites, we also allow commercial users to include links to their own websites in the ads.

The account-managing interface allows sellers to easily buy classified ads in bulk, accumulating significant discounts and reducing the time needed to place multiple ads. Our reposting feature allows advertisers to extend the run of an ad with a single mouse click, and we allow advertisers to edit ads while they run.

The ability to include in your classified ad photos easily uploaded from your hard drive, as well as links to websites with additional information, means you can create the most comprehensive and informative classified audio ad on the internet. We also allow you to choose on which page and for how long to run your classified ad for maximum flexibility in selling your pre-owned audio equipment.

We've got several hundred items already in the database to get things started. Visit the page often for new listings. You'll find a link in the center of our navigation bar at the top of every page on the Stereophile site.
