European Triode Festival 2004

Tube fans might want to get their passports in order. We've received word that the European Triode Festival 2004 (ETF.04) will take place in Langenargen, Germany in December. The festival, which describes itself as "a gathering of tube audio hobbyists and professionals," says it will host participants from all over the world.

The European Triode Festival (formerly Århus Triode Festival) claims to be Europe's leading event for do-it-yourselfers in audio, and notes that last year's show saw participants from around the planet, including Germany, Switzerland, Austria, France, Poland, the Netherlands, Belgium, Denmark, Norway, Australia, New Zealand, the USA, and other countries.

ETF.04 will run from Thursday, December 2 through Sunday, December 5, 2004. It is being held in a "holiday village" in Langenargen, Germany, on the shores of Lake Constance. The cost to attend is set at €200, which includes admission to the festival, accommodation in a two-bed room, and full board for the entire four-day event. ETF.04 is limited to 80 participants and is not open to the walk-in public.

According to show organizers, the festival is aimed at DIY hobbyists and professionals with an interest in vacuum tube amplifiers (preferably triodes) and horn or full-range loudspeakers. It offers lectures, workshops, the exchange of ideas and experiences, a flea market, live music, and more. The guest speaker is Lynn Olson from the USA, who is planning a lecture on the revival of Class-A push-pull amplifiers.

The official language at ETF.04 is English, so participants from the US and Anglophone Canada should feel welcome and well understood.
